  PRESENTERS
 
Rob Lajoie - Main Branch Area Manager, Business Development Bank of Canada

Rob was born and raised in Rural Manitoba and has a Bachelor of Commerce from Université de Moncton. Rob is currently the Area Manager for the Main Winnipeg branch of the BDC. Rob has spent 2 years in the BDC's Corporate Financing Group and 5 years in Business Development roles in the Winnipeg West branch. Rob has a total of over 10 years experience in the banking and finance industry.



Rick Klimczak - Main Branch Consulting Manager, Business Development Bank of Canada

Rick has been an active member of the Manitoba business community for over two decades. Previously Rick held positions at the U of M overseeing business certificate programs and was one of the first Manitoba recipients of the Certified Human Resources Professional designation. Prior to coming to the BDC, Rick was with Ernst & Young where he last worked in sales and marketing initiatives across all their professional services. Rick has been the Main Branch Consulting Manager of the BDC's Main Winnipeg Branch for the last two years.



Elmer Gomes - Partner, Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP

Elmer’s practice consists of all aspects of commercial and business law. He provides legal advice and strategy to domestic and international businesses and manufacturers. He has considerable experience in financing and in commercial real estate conveyancing, leasing and development. Elmer also assists clients in technology and intellectual property law issues, including licensing and protection matters.



Anita Wortzman - CEO, Acumen Corporate Development Inc.

Anita has specialized in mergers and acquisitions for over 15 years. Anita was C.O.O. of Activa Consumer Promotions Corp., a consumer licensing company. Prior to that, Anita was responsible for US acquisitions for Assante Corporation. Anita has extensive experience in all aspects of corporate development from the perspective of buyer, seller and advisor. As well she has been involved in hands on business operations including start-up, integration and exit strategies.
