James A. Ripley


Jim joined the firm as an articling student and has been at the firm since that time.

Jim’s practice can be divided into four areas: (a) a general corporate and commercial practice which involves advising a wide variety of businesses from small to large; (b) banking and finance, including providing general advice to financial institutions and acting for financial institutions on financings; (c) real estate and development, including acting on purchases and sales, leasing and financings; (d) advice to a number of regulatory entities, including on gaming law. 

He is co-chair of the firm’s Business Law practice group and a member of the firm’s Management Committee.

Jim has acted as lead counsel on numerous transactions involving a variety of practice areas, including purchases and sales of businesses, financings and property development.
