Our firm provides real estate transaction services to corporate and individual clients from both within and outside Manitoba. Our clients include many large corporations, major financial institutions, funds and brokers.

The real estate group, through recognized leaders in this area of the law, provides a full range of services and expertise, from basic conveyancing work, to advising on commercial sales and purchases, leasing, development, construction, property management and condominium development and management, to realization on security through foreclosure and insolvency remedies. A number of our senior practitioners are also frequently involved in advising and assisting clients in structuring transactions, both in real estate transactions and, through co-operative efforts with other practice groups within the firm, in corporate-commercial transactions and in litigation having real estate elements to them.

  • The last, and largest, part of Manitoba’s new Condominium Act came into force on February 1, 2015. The new Condominium Act is a comprehensive rewrite of the old Condominium Act. The new Act is composed of over 300 sections, and the regulations comprise 53 sections plus multiple pages of schedules and forms. As well, the new Condominium Act has caused amendments within several other pieces of legislation.

  • TDS lawyer Doug Forbes, along with associates Danny Spencer and Nicholas Woelcke acted for Glasshouse, an exciting new condominium development located across from the MTS Centre at 309 Hargrave Street in Winnipeg. Glasshouse is a 21 storey development featuring modern lofts, floor-to-ceiling windows, and exciting new amenities. Doug worked on the acquisition of the land, the preparation of the condominium documents, financing of the project and construction. Glasshouse is scheduled to be completed in the near future with occupancy starting in August, 2016.

When completed, the SkyCity tower will be Manitoba’s tallest building, and offer 30,000 square feet of amenities to residents. Doug and Nick are working on the preparation of condominium documents and providing sales support to the SkyCity sales team.
