On June 22, 2023, the new mandatory disclosure rules in the Income Tax Act (Canada) ("Act") received royal assent. These rules may impact individuals, corporations, trusts, partnerships, advisors, promoters or certain non-arm’s length parties by expanding the range of transactions that must be reported to the Canada Revenue Agency. Failure to report these transactions can result in significant penalties and extend limitation periods.
In this presentation, we provide a practical summary of the new mandatory disclosure rules, including what transactions apply, who needs to report, when to report, and the risks with failing to report.
