June 02, 2021

We are deeply saddened by the horrific discovery of the remains of 215 Indigenous children from the former Kamloops Indian Residential School in Kamloops, B.C. The loss is immeasurable. We mourn for the children, their families, and their community. We grieve with the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation community and with all residential school survivors.

June marks the beginning of National Indigenous History Month. We have a responsibility to educate ourselves, to listen, and to act. We honour the truth and are committed to reconciling for the future.
