Mr. MacInnes provides mentorship and guidance to lawyers in our office. He is also available as an arbitrator and mediator.
Mr. MacInnes received his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Manitoba in 1966, in which year he was also admitted to the Manitoba Bar. He then practised with the firm as one of Manitoba’s leading civil litigators. In addition, he was a frequent speaker, lecturer and prominent member of the Law Society of Manitoba, the Federation of Law Societies of Canada and several Boards within Winnipeg.
Mr. MacInnes began his judicial career In 1978, when he was appointed a part-time judge of the Provincial Court of Manitoba. Mr. MacInnes was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1980. Mr. MacInnes was appointed to the Court of Queen’s Bench of Manitoba as a full-time superior court judge in 1992 and was elevated to the Court of Appeal in 2007. He retired from the Court of Appeal in May 2018.
