Robert Johnston, K.C.

Profile

Robert (Bob) Johnston has retired from Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP as of July 18, 2022, after having practiced law for more than 45 years in Manitoba. Robert was a partner at Roy, Johnston & Co. LLP of Brandon, Manitoba when it entered into a partnership agreement with TDS in 2014, where he continued to build a solid reputation at the firm and in the law community.

Bob’s practice focused primarily with divorce and matrimonial property and offered his clients a unique form of binding arbitration to resolve major and complex matters. He has been Lawyer of Record in over 200 reported decisions at all levels of court from Trial, to Appeal, to the Supreme Court of Canada, and he maintained a current library of Objective Summaries (Continuing Consolidation) on all topics in family law and the rules of court. He is especially proud of the book he authored entitled Child Support Guidelines:  Six Steps & Eight Situations (Continuing Consolidation).

We would like to thank Bob for the significant contributions he has made TDS and his clients throughout his impressive career and wish him well in retirement.
