Sharyne is a litigation lawyer, practicing primarily in the areas of construction litigation, commercial litigation and administrative and regulatory law.

Sharyne’s experience in construction matters involves advising on construction projects, from contract drafting through to the resolution of any disputes. She is an annual presenter with the Winnipeg Construction Association, on topics such as builder’s liens, delay, construction bonds, and the prompt payment regime.

In the field of administrative law, she provides advice and advocacy pertaining to professional regulation and governance for self-governing professions. Sharyne has experience assisting with issues related to The Regulated Health Professions Act of Manitoba.

She also has experience assisting clients in a broad range of general commercial litigation matters and dispute resolution services, including arbitration and mediation. She has appeared before all levels of Court in Manitoba, including court matters in Winnipeg, Brandon, and rural Manitoba, as well as before various tribunals and administrative bodies.

Sharyne was elected a bencher of the Law Society of Manitoba in 2022. Prior to being elected as a Bencher, Sharyne was elected as Student Bencher for 2016/2017 and served on the Admissions and Education Committee. During her time as a Bencher, Sharyne has served on various committees, including the Complaints and Investigation Committee (as Vice-Chairperson), Access to Justice Committee (as Vice-Chairperson), Practice and Ethics Committee and the President’s Special Committee on Regulating Legal Entities. Sharyne is also a member of the board of The Manitoba Law Foundation.

A firm advocate for Canadians’ ability to obtain legal services and access to justice, she has volunteered at the Legal Help Center since her time in law school. She was recognized, with two of her colleagues at TDS, by the Manitoba Bar Association with the 2023 Pro Bono Award for their role in an intervention before the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal. She is also committed to the development of young lawyers, volunteering as a coach for the Davies Corporate Securities Moot from 2017 to the present.

In the community, Sharyne sits on the board of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Manitoba and is the President of Swimmingly, an organization she has volunteered with for more than 10 years.
