Albina Moran has retired from Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP as of December 31, 2023. Albina articled at TDS  and continued with the firm as an associate after her call to the bar in 1989. Except for a two year hiatus in the Investors Group Legal Department, Albina spent her entire career at TDS. Albina was admitted to the Partnership in 1997.

Albina’s practice centered on corporate and commercial law, with emphasis on commercial and industrial real estate sales and purchases, property development, mortgage financing, mortgage sale and foreclosure proceedings, and leasing.

Albina has made several significant contributions to TDS through the years, serving as a member of many committees, and as Chair of the Associates Committee. Albina was the first female Chair of the firm’s Management Committee.

Outside of the firm, Albina was active in a number of professional organizations, including acting as Chair of the National Real Property Section of the Canadian Bar Association,  as a seminar leader in the Real Property Section of the Manitoba Law Society’s Bar Admission Course, and  as a lecturer in the  Law Society’s continuing Legal Education Program.

Albina believes in giving back and she was therefore active in many community organizations.  She is a past director of the United Way of Winnipeg, the YWCA National Board and the Board of Rainbow Stage. She was also a long serving member of the Board and a past President of Ronald McDonald House Charities Manitoba,  and a member of the Board and past President of the YM-YWCA of Winnipeg. She served as a member and ultimately as Chair of the Board of Regents of The University of Winnipeg, a member of the Board of The University of Winnipeg Foundation, and member of the Riverview Health Centre Board of Directors.

Albina’s dedication, professionalism and steadfast commitment has left an indelible mark with the firm, her colleagues and clients. She will be missed by all of us at TDS and we wish her all the best in her retirement.
