Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP (TDS) congratulates Chimwemwe (Chim) Undi on being the recipient of the University of Manitoba's 2024 Distinguished Alumni Award for Outstanding Young Alumni. For 65 years, The Alumni Awards have recognized graduates who have made a major impact both locally and around the world.
Chim is an associate at TDS who practices primarily in the areas of professional regulation, labour and employment law, administrative law and intellectual property. She assists with providing advice to self-governing professions on issues including statutory compliance and interpretation, policy development, registration and licensing matters, and complaints investigation and prosecutions. As well, Chim is developing a broad labour and employment practice, including wrongful dismissal, human rights, employment standards, and employment contracts and policies.
A dedicated member of Winnipeg’s arts community, Chim's involvement in the arts has been recognized by the CBC Manitoba Future 40 award, the University of Manitoba Future Leaders Award and by her appointment as Winnipeg Poet Laureate for 2023 and 2024. She has a particular interest in helping artists and arts organizations navigate their rights and responsibilities.
2024 recipients will be honoured at The Distinguished Alumni Awards taking place on Thursday, September 19, 2024, in the Manitoba Room at UMSU University Centre.
