Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP (TDS) lawyer John Stefaniuk, K.C. spoke as president of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) at the Supreme Court on Monday, February 19, 2024, during the ceremony welcoming the new Supreme Court Justice, Mary Moreau. The ceremony included speeches from Chief Justice Richard Wagner, Justice Minister Arif Virani, and other members of the law community.
"It was a tremendous honour and a genuine pleasure to participate in this event at the Supreme Court of Canada | Cour suprême du Canada. The appointment of the Honourable Justice Mary T. Moreau is historic not only in that it recognizes her long contribution to the law in Canada, including her history as a francophone Albertan and advocate for minority French language rights in Western Canada, but it also tipped the gender balance to a majority of women justices on the Court for the first time ever."
TDS celebrates with John, the CBA and the Honourable Justice Mary Moreau.
