TDS Supports The Winnipeg Foundation’s Program: Philanthropy & The Law Symposium

On September 16, 2009 The Winnipeg Foundation and the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba held its inaugural Philanthropy and Law symposium in Winnipeg. National keynote speakers at the half-day event included Tim Brodhead, President & CEO, The J.W. McConnell Family Foundation, Terry De March, Director General of the Charities Directorate at Canada Revenue Agency and Ed Waitzer, Partner, Stikeman Elliot.

TDS partner Jan Lederman, lecturer in Philanthropy and the Law at the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba chaired one of two concurrent sessions addressing funding challenges facing charities and non-profits, with panelists Lynn Eakin, a consultant from Ontario, Bob Wyatt, Executive Director of the Muttart Foundation from Edmonton and Susan Lewis President of United Way of Winnipeg. Jan was also on the organizing committee for the Symposium.
 
TDS partner Leilani Kagan participated in a Roundtable discussion with Terry De March, Director General of the Charities Directorate at CRA and Marcel Lauziere, CEO of Imagine Canada.
