Melissa Beaumont was appointed as President of the Manitoba Bar Association (MBA) for a one-year term from September 1st, 2017.

Melissa has been involved with the Manitoba Bar Association for many years, including as an MBA Council Member since 2010 and as a member of its Executive since 2014, most recently serving as its Vice-President from January, 2016 to August 31, 2017. She finds being involved in the MBA is personally rewarding.

“My participation in the MBA has been rewarding as it has allowed me to be exposed to and get involved in a broad range of legal issues affecting not only the profession but the community at large. This lends to an enhanced understanding and appreciation of some of the issues affecting not only my colleagues, but my clients, the public and the many other stakeholders that make up our justice system. It is an exciting opportunity to be a leader and to give back to the community.”

The Manitoba Bar Association, a branch of the Canadian Bar Association, represents approximately 1,400 lawyers, judges, law professors and law students from across Manitoba and is the leader and voice of the legal profession in Manitoba.
