Nathan Nurgitz has advised us of his intention to retire from Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP and the practice of law as of June 30, 2012. Mr. Nurgitz originally joined the firm in 1979 and became a partner in 1980. 1979 also saw his appointment to the Senate of Canada where he served with distinction until 1993. In that year, Mr. Nurgitz was appointed as a Judge of the Court of Queen’s Bench, a position which he held until his retirement from the bench in 2009. He also served from 2005 until 2009 as a Deputy Judge of the Nunavut Court of Justice. On his retirement from the judiciary, Nathan Nurgitz was warmly welcomed back to TDS. One of his great strengths is his ability to bring disputing parties to a common ground through mediation, in which he took the highly regarded course offered by Harvard University. Nathan Nurgitz has served his clients, the firm and the people of Manitoba and Canada with distinction. We wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement.
