Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP is honoured to support the Hope for Justice and Slave-Free Alliance's Extreme Challenge: Patagonia Trek.

In October 2022, a delegation consisting of six dedicated individuals from across the Lex Mundi global network will be gathering in Patagonia for a demanding 7-day trip as part of a tough but epic adventure on behalf of victims and survivors of human trafficking. The team includes members from law firms Basham, Ringe & Correa (Mexico), Noerr (Germany), and companies First Solar (USA), Northvolt (Sweden) and Lex Mundi (USA and Spain).  TDS is the exclusive member firm in Manitoba for Lex Mundi – the world’s leading network of independent law firms with in-depth experience in more than 125 countries worldwide.

The idea to join the Hope for Justice/Slave Free Alliance (HFJ/SFA) yearly challenge originated at the 2021 Lex Mundi General Counsel Summit in Munich, after Lex Mundi CEO Eric Staal heard HFJ/SFA CEO Tim Nelson speak about global supply chain compliance related to the use of forced labour.  Eric then set out to recruit participation in the event as an ideal way to showcase how Lex Mundi member firms can come together to tackle ESG issues.

The Lex Mundi team making the trek includes:

  • Tim Nelson, Hope for Justice
  • Jennifer Lee, First Solar - USA
  • Ira Tsoures, Noerr - Germany
  • Pedro Said Nader - Basham, Ringe y Correa, S.C. - Mexico
  • Taryn Butchard and Eric Staal - Lex Mundi, USA and Spain
