TDS lawyer Silvia de Sousa Recognized by MBA with 2022 Council Member Award

Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP (TDS) congratulates Silvia de Sousa on being recognized by the Manitoba Bar Association (MBA) as the 2022 recipient of the Council Member Award for her provincial and national contributions as a member of the MBA Council.

Silvia is a partner at TDS with a practice that is concentrated in the area of business law with an emphasis on intellectual property law and technology law. She was first elected as a representative for Winnipeg to the MBA Council in 2013 and is currently in her fifth, two-year term. Silvia was made a Life Council member in 2018. She brings a unique perspective and voice to meetings, where she is an active contributor to policies, resolutions and issues that arise. She has also represented the MBA on committees, including the Pitblado Lectures.

Silvia has also been active on provincial and national sections - specialty groups that represent common interest groups or focus on substantive areas of the law and the legal profession. She chaired the MBA Intellectual Property Technology Section as well as the National Intellectual Property Section for the CBA. She was also chair of the CBA Intellectual Property Transactional Committee. 

The award will be presented at the MBA 2023 Mid-Winter Conference Awards Luncheon on January 20, 2023, at the Fairmont Winnipeg.  Learn more about the Mid-Winter Conference on their website
