Jeff’s practice is focused on corporate and commercial law. He advises clients with respect to financings, mergers and acquisitions, commercial agreements and other corporate and commercial matters. Jeff has particular expertise advising mining companies on commercial matters, including those relating to project development from the due diligence phase, through the negotiation and drafting of letters of intent, option agreements and joint venture agreements. He also is experienced in assisting mining companies and financing parties in connection with the confirmation and analysis of mineral interest tenure in Manitoba.
Jeff is a member of Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP’s Privacy and Data Protection Practice Group. Jeff’s practice includes advising clients on privacy, data protection and cybersecurity matters, including providing clients with guidance on compliance with privacy and data protection laws, conducting privacy impact assessments, developing policies relating to the collection, retention and disclosure of personal information and structuring legal agreements to comply with Canada’s privacy and data protection laws. Jeff can also assist with developing policies and procedures relating to data protection and data breach mitigation and can assist clients in responding to a data breach event.
Jeff previously conducted a sports law practice with a particular focus on providing advice to professional hockey players as a certified agent with the National Hockey League Players’ Association.
Jeff also has experience serving as senior in-house counsel for a publicly-traded Canadian company with operations in North and South America, Australia and Eastern Europe.
