Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP (TDS) congratulates Sacha Paul, Miranda Grayson and Sharyne Hamm on being recognized by the Manitoba Bar Association (MBA) with the 2023 Pro Bono Award for their role in an intervention before the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal.
Their efforts as co-counsel to the to the Public Interest Law Centre (PILC), representing The Council of Canadians with Disabilities, Inclusion Canada and People First Canada, led to an important victory on systemic discrimination on behalf of persons living with disabilities. The Nova Scotia ruling sends a strong message across Canada, including Manitoba, that jurisdictions cannot discriminate against persons with disabilities when they create social benefits programs.
Sacha Paul is a Partner with Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP practising primarily in two areas of law – Aboriginal law and Public and Administrative law.
Miranda Grayson practises in the areas of Labour law and civil litigation with an emphasis on Public and Administrative law.
Sharyne Hamm's practice is focused in the area of civil litigation, with a primary emphasis on construction litigation and dispute resolution. She also practices in the area of Administrative law, focusing on professional disciplinary matters.
